MANAGING PERMANENT GRASSLAND IN THE AIM OF SUSTAINABLE RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF CARPATHIAN REGION IN SERBIA


In the paper were analyzed areas, cadastral structure and yields of meadows and pastures, disposable livestock fund and demographic and investment potential in agriculture of Carpathian area in Serbia, which encompasses the territory of NP “Djerdap” and cadastral municipality (CM)  Golubac, CM Topolnica and part of CM Majdanpek,  in naturally hinterland of the park. Besides natural values preservation of NP “Djerdap” and ecologically valuable and sensitive localities in its hinterland, sustainable use of HNV meadow-pastoral land series makes a base for development of low intensity pastoral livestock breeding and processing and sale of got high-quality traditional meat and dairy products and thereby contributes to population density preservation, development of entrepreneurial ship and sustainable tourism, as well as regional development in the whole.

Due to protection and improvement of ecological, production-economic and scenery values of natural and semi-natural grassland is necessary to take special land reclamation measures, stipulated by the law and good agricultural practice, primarily by ensuring usual mowing or controlled grazing. Agro-ecological compensation for preservation of HNV grassland in good agro-ecological conditions and supporting measures to renewal and improvement of pastoral livestock breeding and improvement of processing and sale of traditional meat and dairy products have an important role in animation of agricultural producers, entrepreneurs and local community for more active engagement and investment in these areas.

  1. I was recently traveled with river cruise ship downstream along the river Danube. I must say that I was so impressed with the sightseeing, especially the Djerdap Gorge, also known as the „Iron Gate“.

  2. Danube river cruises are not complete if you don’t visit Golubac fortress located at the very beginning of the Djerdap Gorge. Fortress is considered to be unconquerable trough much of the middle ages because of it is location, which is on rock cliff just above the Danube river. Just impressive.

  3. Djerdap gorge is one of the best preserved nature reserves in Europe. It is a part of a „Djerdap Gordge“ national park and it attracts more and more tourists every year.
